# Template 03: AI & Agent News Daily Digest

> A daily roundup of what actually changed in AI and AI agents (new models, tools, releases, research) with the hype filtered out.

## Who it's for

Builders, founders and curious tinkerers who use AI and agents and want to keep up without reading every launch thread. Good for people who build with agents and need to know when a tool they rely on changes.

## What it does

Every morning it sends a digest with:

1. **Top 5 stories**: the biggest AI/agent news from the last 24 hours, each with a one-line "why it matters" and a link.
2. **Shipped for builders**: new releases, APIs, SDK updates and open-source projects you could actually use today.
3. **One research pick**: a paper worth knowing about, explained in plain English.
4. **Your watchlist**: anything mentioning the companies, tools or topics you told it to track (e.g. "MCP," "n8n," "open-source models").

It merges duplicates, skips pure hype and funding-round filler unless it's big, and links every item.

## Required connectors & data sources

All free and public.

| What | Source | Endpoint / link |
|---|---|---|
| Company announcements | OpenAI News RSS | `https://openai.com/news/rss.xml` |
| Company announcements | Google AI blog RSS | `https://blog.google/innovation-and-ai/technology/ai/rss/` |
| Company announcements | Hugging Face blog RSS | `https://huggingface.co/blog/feed.xml` |
| Company announcements | Anthropic newsroom (web page, no official RSS) | `https://www.anthropic.com/news` |
| Community / dev news | Hacker News (Algolia search API) | `GET https://hn.algolia.com/api/v1/search_by_date?query=AI%20agent&tags=story` |
| Community / dev news | hnrss.org (HN filtered RSS) | `https://hnrss.org/newest?q=AI+agent&points=50` |
| Research | arXiv RSS | `https://rss.arxiv.org/rss/cs.AI` (also `cs.CL`, `cs.LG`) |
| Open-source releases | GitHub | GitHub releases Atom feed for any repo: `https://github.com/OWNER/REPO/releases.atom` |
| General news search | Google News RSS | `https://news.google.com/rss/search?q=%22AI+agents%22&hl=en-US&gl=US&ceid=US:en` |
| Social pulse (optional) | X | Grok Bot's built-in X search only. The X API has no free tier (it's pay-per-use), so the n8n version skips X and uses RSS only. |
| Delivery | Your choice | Grok Bot chat, email, Telegram or Slack |

**Everything above is free.** RSS feeds and the Hacker News/arXiv APIs need no key. Limits: feeds occasionally move or block automated readers, and Anthropic's news page has no RSS, so the n8n version leaves it out unless you add an HTML-scraping step.

## Grok Bot version

**Suggested schedule:** every weekday at 8:00 AM your local time. Optional: a longer "week in AI" recap on Saturdays at 9:00 AM.

Copy-paste this to your Grok Bot assistant:

```text
Set up a recurring routine for me called "AI & Agent Daily Digest".
SCHEDULE: Every weekday (Mon–Fri) at 8:00 AM my local time.
Also every Saturday at 9:00 AM: a "Week in AI" recap of the top 10 stories of the week.
MY WATCHLIST: [e.g. MCP, n8n, open-source models, coding agents, Grok, OpenAI, Anthropic, Google]
EACH WEEKDAY RUN:
1. Read the last 24 hours of:
   https://openai.com/news/rss.xml
   https://blog.google/innovation-and-ai/technology/ai/rss/
   https://huggingface.co/blog/feed.xml
   https://www.anthropic.com/news (web page; look for posts dated in the last 24h)
   https://hnrss.org/newest?q=AI+agent&points=50
   https://rss.arxiv.org/rss/cs.AI
2. Also do a web search and an X search for the biggest AI and AI-agent news of the last 24h.
3. Build the digest:
   - TOP 5: the most important stories. Merge duplicates. One sentence each on why it matters. Link.
   - SHIPPED FOR BUILDERS: up to 5 new releases, APIs, SDKs or open-source tools someone could try today.
   - RESEARCH PICK: one arXiv paper, explained in 2 plain-English sentences, with the link.
   - WATCHLIST: any item mentioning my watchlist topics. Skip the section if none.
4. Under 350 words. Plain English, no hype words ("revolutionary," "game-changing").
RULES:
- Only include stories you actually found, each with a real link.
- If something is a rumor, leak or single-source claim, label it "unconfirmed".
- Skip funding rounds under $100M and generic opinion pieces unless they're on my watchlist.
- Don't repeat a story you already sent me in the last 3 days unless there's real news on it.
```

**Customize it:** add GitHub repos you depend on, e.g. *"Also check https://github.com/n8n-io/n8n/releases.atom and tell me about new releases."*

## Portable version

### ChatGPT / Claude (free plans work)

Paste this into ChatGPT's Custom Instructions, or a Project if your plan has one, or just at the start of a new chat. Free plans have daily message limits, and web browsing/search may be limited or slower on free plans. If it can't browse, paste the data in.

Use with web browsing / search turned on. Each morning, open the project and type **"digest"**.

```text
You write my daily AI & AI-agent news digest. When I say "digest":
Search the last 24 hours across: OpenAI News, Google AI blog, Anthropic news, Hugging Face blog,
Hacker News, arXiv (cs.AI), and major tech news sites.
Write:
- TOP 5: biggest AI/agent stories, merged, one line each on why it matters, with links.
- SHIPPED FOR BUILDERS: up to 5 new tools, APIs, SDKs or open-source releases I could try today.
- RESEARCH PICK: one paper in 2 plain-English sentences, with link.
- WATCHLIST: anything about [MY TOPICS].
Under 350 words. No hype. Label rumors "unconfirmed". Never invent a story or a link.
If you can't browse, say so and I'll paste headlines.
```

### n8n workflow outline (nodes in order)

> **$0 n8n:** use **self-hosted n8n Community Edition** (free) on your own computer, e.g. `npx n8n` or Docker. n8n Cloud is a paid product, so skip it. Limit: workflows only run while that computer is on and awake.

1. **Schedule Trigger**: weekdays, 8:00 AM.
2. **RSS Feed Read** ×5: OpenAI News, Google AI blog, Hugging Face blog, hnrss.org (AI agent, 50+ points), arXiv cs.AI.
3. **HTTP Request** (optional): `https://hn.algolia.com/api/v1/search_by_date?query=AI%20agent&tags=story` for extra HN coverage.
4. **Merge** (append) all items.
5. **Filter**: keep items published in the last 24 hours.
6. **Code**: de-duplicate by URL and near-identical titles; trim each item to title + link + source + first 300 chars; tag items that match your watchlist keywords.
7. **AI node** (free options: the **Google Gemini Chat Model** node using a free-tier Gemini API key, or the **Ollama Chat Model** node running a free local model on your own computer, either one plugged into a **Basic LLM Chain**): prompt = the portable instructions + the trimmed items. Tell it to use only the items provided.
8. **Send**: **Send Email**, **Telegram**, or **Slack** node.
9. (Optional) **Google Sheets**: append sent links, and read them back in step 6 to avoid repeats.

---

## 2-minute setup guide

1. **Write your watchlist**: 3–8 topics, tools or companies you care about.
2. **Paste the Grok Bot prompt** above into your Grok Bot assistant with your watchlist filled in.
3. **Ask for a test run:** *"Send me today's AI digest now."*
4. **Tune it once:** reply with *"more builder tools," "less research,"* etc. Your assistant updates the routine.
