# Template 02: Bitcoin Price & News Daily Brief

> One short morning message: where bitcoin's price is, what's happening on-chain, and the 3–5 news stories actually worth your time.

## Who it's for

Bitcoiners, miners and investors who want to stay informed in two minutes a day, without doom-scrolling X or opening ten news sites.

## What it does

Every morning it sends a brief with:

1. **Price snapshot**: BTC price in USD (and your local currency if you want), 24h change, 7-day change, market cap.
2. **Network snapshot**: recommended fees (sat/vB), current hashrate, and the next difficulty adjustment estimate.
3. **Top stories**: 3–5 headlines from the last 24 hours, de-duplicated, each with a one-line "why it matters" and a link.
4. **Watch today**: anything scheduled (e.g. a difficulty adjustment landing today, an ETF flow report, a big conference) that came up in the news.

It only reports what it actually fetched, links every story, and keeps opinion out of the facts.

**Everything above is free.** CoinGecko works without a key but is rate-limited; a once-a-day brief is well within it. For steadier access, get a free CoinGecko Demo API key (10,000 calls/month). RSS feeds are free but occasionally change address or block automated readers. If a feed fails, the brief just uses the others.

   Also do a web search and an X search for the biggest bitcoin stories of the last 24h.
   Pick the 3–5 most important bitcoin-specific stories (skip altcoin-only news and
   sponsored/press-release posts). Merge duplicates covering the same event.
   For each: headline, one sentence on why it matters, source name, link.
4. WATCH TODAY: List anything happening today that came up in the news or data
   (e.g. a difficulty adjustment landing within ~144 blocks). Skip this section if nothing.

FORMAT: Title line with the date. Then sections: Price, Network, Top Stories, Watch Today.
Under 250 words. Plain English, no hype, no price predictions, no financial advice.

RULES:
- Use only numbers you actually fetched. If a source fails, say "unavailable" for that
  line rather than guessing.
- Every news item must have a real link from the feed or search result.
- Clearly separate facts from opinion. If a story is a rumor or a single-source claim, say so.

**Customize it:** add *"Also show the price in EUR"* (add `eur` to `vs_currencies`), or *"Add a section on mining news"* (Grok Bot can add `https://news.google.com/rss/search?q=bitcoin+mining&hl=en-US&gl=US&ceid=US:en`).

### n8n workflow outline (nodes in order)

> **$0 n8n:** use **self-hosted n8n Community Edition** (free) on your own computer, e.g. `npx n8n` or Docker. n8n Cloud is a paid product, so skip it. Limit: workflows only run while that computer is on and awake.

1. **Schedule Trigger**: daily, 7:00 AM.
2. **HTTP Request**: CoinGecko `simple/price` (with `include_24hr_change` and `include_market_cap`).
3. **HTTP Request**: CoinGecko `coins/bitcoin/market_chart?vs_currency=usd&days=7`.
4. **HTTP Request**: mempool.space `fees/recommended`.
5. **HTTP Request**: mempool.space `difficulty-adjustment` (and `mining/hashrate/3d`).
6. **RSS Feed Read** ×4: CoinDesk, Cointelegraph, The Block, Decrypt.
7. **Merge** (append) the RSS items → **Filter**: keep items with `pubDate` in the last 24h.
8. **Code**: compute 7d % change, convert hashrate to EH/s, trim each news item to title + link + first 300 chars.
9. **AI node** (free options: the **Google Gemini Chat Model** node using a free-tier Gemini API key, or the **Ollama Chat Model** node running a free local model on your own computer, either one plugged into a **Basic LLM Chain**): prompt = the portable instructions above + the JSON from steps 2–8. Ask it to pick 3–5 stories and write the brief, using only the provided data.
10. **Send**: **Send Email**, **Telegram**, or **Slack** node.

## 2-minute setup guide

1. **Copy the Grok Bot prompt** above and paste it into your Grok Bot assistant.
2. **Change the time** if 7:00 AM isn't right, and say where you want it delivered (chat or email).
3. **Ask for a test run:** *"Send me today's brief now."*
4. **Tune it once:** reply with what you'd change (*"shorter," "add EUR," "more mining news"*). Your assistant will update the routine.
